Meet Tober — Corporate & Business Sourcing Team

Hi Tober, nice to meet you. Please introduce yourself. 

Hello, my name is Tober and I work in the Korea Corporate and Business Sourcing team at Coupang. You might be wondering why my name is Tober. It is related to the date I joined Coupang. I joined Coupang in October 2022. So, I came up with the name “October” to commemorate the month I joined the company, and it later became “Tober.” 

The first task I took on after joining the company was sourcing Account Manager candidates for the Coupang Ads team, which oversees Coupang's advertising. Because it was my first-time recruiting/sourcing, I was unfamiliar and doubtful, but thanks to the guidance of passionate and friendly team members, I was able to complete my job and achieve good results. Although 1 year and 6 months have passed since I joined Coupang, I am still learning a lot from my colleagues at work and enjoying it. I work with pride, believing that recruiting good talent is ultimately the driving force behind me and the company's growth. 

We’re curious to hear more about your journey to Coupang. What attracted you the most?  

Coupang was a big challenge for me. Because it was my first time not only at Coupang, but also at a job related to recruitment. However, during the interview process, I was particularly impressed by the interviewers. What I was able to feel through all the field interviewers was how sincerely the employees are committed to helping the company grow. Through interviews with managers in recruiting and sourcing organizations, I was able to get a glimpse into the way they work and think, and I felt that they were very much in line with Coupang's leadership principles. Therefore, I was able to feel the growth momentum of Coupang, which was growing at the time, and I wanted to join the same group without hesitation for my career. 

What are you looking forward to the most with Coupang?  

As a Coupang employee and a consumer, I am surprised and excited every time Coupang announces various services. Therefore, I am excited about the various recruitment cases I will be responsible for. As Coupang's business expands and grows, I would like to become a recruitment expert with experience hiring for a variety of positions. 

Any tips you’d like to share with those who are interested in career opportunities at Coupang? 

You may have heard of the ‘Coupang Leadership Principles’ and it may sound somewhat obvious, but I would recommend them again. We work and grow based on our leadership principles. I have no doubt that if you prepare for the interview by combining your capabilities and work experience through 'Coupang LP', you will get good results.
