Role Overview

Every day, millions of users are searching for products on Coupang. We are building a product engineering team of passionate people in our Mountain View office. We are building an inspiring search and discovery journey for Coupang users to help our users find products easier and discover more products to live their best life. This team is a full stack team, in which there are Android, iOS, web and Backend engineers. As an engineer on the Search and Discovery Product team, you will own one of the most critical product surfaces on Coupang’s app – Search and Discovery, where 60%+ of transactions happen. In the meantime, you will get the chance to closely work with the world-class search and discovery engineers in our Mountain View office to realize these cutting-edge technologies into product features. 

What You Will Do

You will develop cutting edge technologies to redefine our customer facing app to bring seamless customer experience and build world-class android platform to power various products like search, recommendation, and personalization.  As part of the product engineering strategy, product engineers also work closely with product owners and designers to enable a friction-free Coupang customer experience and accelerate our company growth. Our mission is to make Coupang the first place for people to search and discover products, and product engineering is the gateway for this ambitious vision.  

Basic Qualifications 

• 8+ years of coding experience with Android, proficiency in Java or Kotlin
• Experience developing high quality, large-scale consumer applications
• Deep understanding of UI development of Android and able to build platform-like solutions
• Understanding of A/B testing, able to do experiment analysis 
• Strong communication skills and great product sense
• Strong passion of building product
• Embrace messiness, wants to be challenged with complex issues
• Scrappy and willing to take risks

Preferred Qualifications

• Full stack experience
• Had 2+ major product features launched in recent year
• Strong ownership, having experience of working in early startup is a plus
